This year we’ll be recognizing the many flyball dogs who were rescued dogs. There will be a special bandana for each rescue dog and we have a special photographer, Jenni Veator, who will take their photos and post them. Then an hour or so before the end of racing, we will announce the Rescue Dream Team. If there’s enough interest, we’ll have 2 dream teams and they can race against each other after regular racing is finished. This is the first time we’ve done something like this, so some of the details may change, but the bottom-line is that we want to increase the awareness of how great it is to rescue dogs and how well they do in flyball!
Rescue Donations: We will also be collecting items for these two rescue organizations. Dog Gone Inn is looking for the following items: Canned Chicken, Instant Rice, Scooping/Odor Control Litter, Iams Kitten/Cat Dry and Canned, Iams Puppy/Adult Dry and Canned, Martingale Collars, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and lots of Cleaning Supplies (Paper Towels and All-Purpose Cleaner). Helping Hounds could use: Grain-Free Dry Dog Food/Adult, Puppy and Small Bites; Tractor Supply Company – 4 Health, Any Grain Free Brand will be accepted; Canned Dog Food, Martingale/ No-Slip Collars – All Sizes, 6’ Leashes, Frontline or Advantage Flea & Tick – All sizes, Bleach, Paper Towels, Liquid Laundry Detergent, Trash Bags – 55 Gallon and Tall Kitchen, Medium and Large Nitrile Exam Gloves, Toys, Postage Stamps, K-cup coffee, tea, cocoa; Copy Paper, Ledger Sized Copy Paper (11×17), Yellow or Blue Copy Paper, Gift Cards from Staples, Mother Nature’s Pet Supply, Petco, PetSmart, Tractor Supply Co, Home Depot. Due to our very limited storage space we are currently unable to take in any towels, blankets, or comforters. Sheets in good condition are always accepted.
Rescue Organizations: And in keeping with our Rescue Recognition, we will have 2 local rescue organizations with booths and information on the dogs that they currently have in their rescue that they think will make good flyball dogs. Unfortunately, we can’t have the dogs in the building, but the people from these rescues would be happy to show you photos and give you lots of information about them. Then if you’re interested in meeting them, they can make arrangements. Here are links to the dogs they presently have online: Dog Gone Inn and Helping Hounds.
